Spurs 50th Anniversary Season

The Spurs' 50th Anniversary season (22-23) was absolutely insane. I don't think I've ever worked so hard on so many different projects. It was an honor and a blast though! Here are a few of my favorites.

Working on the courts is, and will always be, one of my favorite projects.

This was my first court with the Spurs, and it was a real honor to get to design the stage for the Spurs to play their 50th year of basketball.

Really wish I had gotten better pics of the court.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary, 5 themed nights based around the 5 championship years were planned, and bobbleheads were given away to fans for each of the 5 nights.

To keep a cohesive look, I created a set of stamps to add to collateral for the nights.

Nothing super ground-breaking, but I wanted to keep it simple and recognizable for fans to easily identify.

I also made the four tune-in ads seen here.

Again with the bad pics! Wish I had gotten a shot of these in action.

These were the banners that were hung on the light poles around the arena.

It was tons of fun looking at all the vintage photos of the past players and collaging them together.

This cover was so fun to make.

I cannot stress how grateful to the Spurs I am for giving me the opportunity to design a cover for a publication I love, and grew up with.

This was my 2nd cover for the Current.

During the 22-23 season, we had 3 major events taking place to celebrate the 50th season. Three out-of-arena games would be played in different cities and arenas, and to launch this announcement, we decided to use postcards.

I designed these three to look like vintage postcards from bygone eras while still keeping the cities in mind.

To go along with the 3 out-of-arena games, I got the opportunity to design a poster for each game, along with a “tour shirt”.

These were really fun to work on. I think the Mexico poster is my favorite of the 3 because of the structure and color palette.

The car on the tour poster is a 1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, which was the most popular car sold in the year the Spurs were established.

These temporary tattoos were created for an event the Spurs held in Austin to create interest in the Spurs games held at Austin’s Moody Center.

I wanted these to have an imperfect hand-drawn look to replicate a popular style of tattoo here in San Antonio.

I got to create a really fun and weird shirt for a Spurs x San Antonio Food Bank event where some of the players helped hand out food to people in need.

This was so out there and fun to illustrate.

To help create interest in the the two games to be played at the Moody Center, the Spurs created a week of festivities surrounding the games.

One of these initiatives was to have pedicabs wrapped in cheeky sayings. I didn’t write these sayings, but I did create the art for them and spearhead the idea to use fun eclectic type to make these more eye-catching.

I wish I had gotten some better in-action pics of these (story of my 22-23 season experience ha!).

I created these for some button and sticker giveaways. The little guy in the middle, Rowley, took on a life of his own and got super popular!

This is a pretty fun one. I got the request to create a logo for an internal employee event. I went overboard (like I always do), and created multiple versions for them. After that I didn’t hear anything about the logos until the day of the event, where I was given a cookie with the logo I made on it and a shirt! They had also taken the logo and put it up on the jumbotron. It was so surreal to see, and I’m so stoked that everyone loved the logo and it made some kids happy.

Thanks for Looking!
